Marketing Specialist

This individual contributor role is responsible for creating and executing digital content, marketing strategies and campaigns, improving search ranking, driving traffic and engagement on the First Student/Charter websites, and maximizing ROI for paid search and digital advertising. Major Responsibilities Coordinating and managing our trade show presence across North America, developing marketing materials, and acting as liaison between trade show vendors and partners. Working with internal stakeholders to provide exceptional customer service, assist with lead generation and follow‑up. Developing creative assets to support industry events, sponsorships and speaking engagements. Crafting tailored and dynamic content aligned with overall business objectives and reflecting First Student’s style and voice. Growing and nurturing our customer/prospect base by collaborating with marketing, digital agencies, communications and sales to identify content opportunities and deliver relevant, impactful content across channels. Developing and managing SEO/organic search, paid search and digital advertising strategies for increased prospect awareness and lead generation. Overseeing websites and collaborating with the First Student/Chart team and external agencies to propose, plan, execute and communicate content developments and quality/performance enhancements; continuously monitoring websites to ensure accurate, up‑to‑date information and error‑free pages. Testing content formats and distribution channels to determine the optimal approach to reaching and engaging various segments of First Student’s target audiences. Assessing and reporting on digital marketing effectiveness across all channels with clear recommendations and thoughtful plans for continuous improvement. Minimum Experience or Skills Required Four‑year degree, preferably in marketing. 3–5 years of experience in marketing. High level of collaboration, curiosity, creativity, attention to detail, project management skills, and drive for results. Proven ability to write persuasively across multiple mediums—digital, social, mobile, print—and desire to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an eye for visual organization and design. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. Strong organizational skills with emphasis on being conscientious and detail‑oriented. Ability to communicate difficult or sensitive information tactfully. Customer‑first mindset, understanding what the audience wants or needs and how and when they consume information. Intermediate knowledge and experience with websites, SEO and marketing analytics. Proficiency with MS Office applications; experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
