Travel RN - ICUAmerican TravelerOmaha, Nebraska, United StatesPosition status: OpenAssignment type: travelShift: NightsLength (weeks): 13Openings: 1Start date: 2026-10-26T00:00:00.000Z$2,356.00/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level 1 trauma acute care hospital, requiring 2+ years of recent ICU experience and NE or compact licensure.DetailsMed/Surg ICU unit (3N/3S) within a Level 1 trauma, primary tertiary hospital34-bed unit with nurse:patient ratios of 1:1-2 in ICU, 1:4-5 in PCU, and 1:5-6 in Med/SurgAdult and pediatric (15+) patient population with diagnoses including neuro surgery, respiratory failure, ARDS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, general surgery, psych/OD, GI bleeds, and cancer-specific surgeriesRNs required to titrate drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmicsUtilizes CVPs, Alines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, Zoll-Thermoguard, and Bell Mont rapid transfuser equipmentDraeger heart monitors with centralized telemetry; RNs must read and interpret strips independently (no dedicated tech)Charge nurse present each shift and responds to RRTs and CodesNurse aides/PCTs on unit at 1:18 ratioEPIC EMR used for charting12-hour night shifts, 0630-1830 and 1830-0630 rotationEvery other weekend required; holiday coverage 2 out of 3 major holidays or every other, based on unit needsFloats to all inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU2 shifts of unit-specific orientation providedRequirementsActive RN license (NE state or Compact/NLC) currently in hand, no pending licenses acceptedCurrent certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSSMinimum 2 years of recent ICU experience requiredExperience reading and interpreting telemetry strips independently requiredExperience titrating drips including vasopressors, sedation, and antiarrhythmics requiredDriver's license required for consideration and residency verificationTwo professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibilityAdditional InformationInterview with unit leaders required as part of the hiring processCollaborates with attendings, fellows, and residents in a team-based care environmentFast-paced unit with fluctuating patient volumes due to tertiary hospital statusSuccess on this unit favors nurses with strong critical thinking skills, a positive attitude, and willingness to collaborateNavy blue scrubs required per unit dress codeArtificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departmentsPass/fail open-book exam on orientation-related skills administered during first week; a 90% score is required to passMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified via driver's licenseCandidates may not be employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or DignityUp to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO requests will not be approved after submissionHours per week: 36Hours per shift: 12
