Machine Operator

Saw Operator

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Saw Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing steel materials for fabrication by operating various machines and tools. The ideal candidate will have experience in a fabrication shop environment and be familiar with common metal cutting and processing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain various cut shop equipment, including:
• Bandsaws
• Bender
• Cope machine
• Measure, bend, punch, form, and cut steel components according to shop drawings and cut lists.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances using tape measures, squares, and other measuring tools.
• Loading and unloading steel using forklifts and material handling equipment.
• Label and organize cut materials for easy identification by fabrication teams.
• Follow safety procedures and wear proper PPE at all times.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Work as part of a team to meet production deadlines and quality standards.

Qualifications:

• 13 years of experience in a fabrication or metal shop environment preferred.
• Basic knowledge of steel materials (plate, angle, HSS, W beams, channel, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret basic fabrication drawings and cut lists.
• Comfortable operating hand tools, saws, and heavy equipment.
• Forklift experience or certification preferred but not required (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Willingness to learn and follow direction from lead personnel.
• Preferred Skills (Not Required): Experience with press brake, shear, or ironworker operations. Familiarity with mechanics and tools.

Working Conditions:

• Full-time, shop-based position.
• Fast-paced environment with exposure to heat, noise, and heavy materials.
• Steel-toe boots and PPE required.
