Responsibilities WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Health Scientist, you will, Design, oversee, implement, and conduct major scientific surveys/studies or projects to identify and solve public health problems. Search, synthesize and interpret information relevant to public health. Review and analyze studies and projects assessing major and or sensitive public health issues in order to make recommendations for processes, procedures and /or policies related to public health programs, practices and research. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Degree: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year of specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing at least ALL of the following: Providing scientific and technical advice on projects that focus on the science of birth defects and developmental disabilities research, and developmental disabilities surveillance systems. Translating research and surveillance analytic results for prevention and intervention activities and programs. Analyzing the results of epidemiologic and other collected data through the use of highly complex statistical packages and computer models.
