Facilities Night Supervisor

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the Facilities Mechanic and Night Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and administering the maintenance, repair, and operation of the JCC Leventhal‑Sidman campus grounds, buildings/structures, mechanical systems, and equipment. This role also serves as the on‑site management presence during evening, weekend, and special event periods, overseeing building operations staff and coordinating facility operations for internal and external rentals and events. Primary Responsibilities Day‑to‑Day Facility Maintenance & Operations: Perform general upkeep, maintain HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and equipment; conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance; address emergent repairs; perform snow removal; ensure safety and PPE compliance; update work order system. Pool Systems Maintenance: Inspect and maintain indoor and outdoor pool mechanical systems; monitor water chemistry; troubleshoot plumbing and electrical issues; conduct preventive maintenance; assist with seasonal pool procedures; ensure regulatory compliance. After‑Hours & Night Supervision: Serve as on‑site manager after business hours; direct evening and weekend staff; handle emergencies; perform inspections; mediate conflicts; submit written reports; monitor alarms, cameras, and HVAC. Special Events Coordination: Act as point person for all rentals of theater, gym, and meeting rooms; coordinate set‑up, staffing, technical support, and security; generate rental agreements and collect fees; assist with special projects. Administrative, Supply & Vendor Management: Inform director of facility issues; track inventory; research and procure spare parts and supplies; schedule contractors; participate in budgeting and equipment lifecycle management; respond to emergency maintenance outside regular hours. Standard Staff Expectations: Create a welcoming environment; participate actively as a member of the Facilities team; support JCC Greater Boston’s mission and values; attend all staff meetings; perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversee cleaning and janitorial staff during evening and weekend shifts. Education and Experience High School Diploma and a minimum of 5 years of related experience in general maintenance, facilities management, or property management, including staff supervision. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion. Preferred Qualifications Experience with parts procurement/ordering. Experience in customer‑facing or event coordination roles. Skills and Abilities Effective working knowledge in general maintenance, plumbing, electrical, mechanical repairs, and swimming pool maintenance. In‑depth understanding of mechanical systems and repair; ability to diagnose and troubleshoot systems. Skilled in executing machine and equipment maintenance; expertise with hand tools, power tools, and snow removal equipment. Ability to read and follow schematics, service manuals, and written instructions. Demonstrated organizational and time‑management skills; ability to multitask and manage situations effectively and diplomatically. Self‑starter who takes initiative; able to adapt to evolving needs and circumstances. Excellent interpersonal and active listening skills; record of working well independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally, verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers. Demonstrated customer service excellence; ability to serve as a management presence and mediator in a member‑facing environment. Demonstrated commitment to building strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders. CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification preferred. Valid driver’s license and personal transportation required. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus. Physical Requirements This position requires a full‑time, on‑site presence with evening and weekend availability. The employee must be able to lift and carry objects weighing 50 pounds or more, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, tolerate various temperature ranges including outdoor conditions, and perform frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and kneeling. The employee must also be willing to work in extreme outside climate conditions for building and swimming pool maintenance and repairs and must be able to safely work with swimming pool chemicals. Benefits and Compensation Competitive salary range of $65,000 – $73,000 annually, determined by relevant qualifications, experience, and JCC’s internal equity.
