School Counselor

The Tangipahoa Parish School System (TPSS) is now accepting applications for the following:

POSITION: School Counselor (10 Months)

SALARY: $53,344 - $77,367 (Based on degree and verified years of relevant experience)

LOCATION: Not assigned to a specific school location at this time, but serving within the parish.

CRITERIA: Must currently hold a valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate with School Counselor certification or hold a valid Louisiana Ancillary Teaching Certificate in School Counselor K-12.

QUALIFICATIONS: Certification in Guidance and Counseling as shown in Louisiana Department of Education Bulletin 746.

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOALS: To provide a counseling program that creates a supportive educational atmosphere; to enhance student occupational and educational aspirations; to reduce discipline problems and assist the student in developing a positive self-image.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan the Guidance Program.
• Recommend a curriculum relevant to the individual student's needs.
• Conduct both group and individual guidance sessions.
• Coordinate school-wide testing program.
• Administer tests when necessary.
• Serve as a Leader and consultant.
• Provide placement services.
• Conduct research and surveys.
• Maintain professional standards.
• Maintain a full working day during summer employment and carry out assigned duties.
• Program students.
• Complete Professional Growth Plan and Self-Evaluation.
• Perform other duties assigned by the appropriate authority.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months

EVALUATION: Criteria established by Tangipahoa Parish School Board Policy.
