MRI Technologist 2 – TGH Imaging North (260002JI) Summary This position is accountable for performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures that produce high‑quality diagnostic digital exams. The technologist may specialize as an MRI Float Technologist, conduct cardiac or breast biopsy studies, or serve as a MRI Team Lead, performing advanced MRI skills with minimal supervision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Verify that the prescription matches the procedure to be performed, and record all reasons for the exam, including signs and symptoms. Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation; administer oral or IV contrast when necessary or ordered. Be familiar with SAR levels and follow proper magnetic safety protocols. Position the patient on the examination table following protocols, adjusting immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of the area requested by the physician, and collaborate with the radiologist and team during breast biopsies. Move MR equipment into the specified position and adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance per protocol. Process radiologic MRI digital images, examine them for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability, and print CDs when requested. Verify that the patient’s exam corresponds to the ordered exam in PACS; make changes to billing codes or exam titles as needed. Present any prior studies along with current studies to the radiologist for diagnostic assessment. Stock and order supplies, check the machine for any problems, perform equipment QC as needed, and complete any other duties assigned daily. Perform all other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a 2‑year radiologic technology program from an accredited school. Current and valid Florida State License (CRT). Current and valid ARRT registry MRI (MR) registry or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT). Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (CPR). Knowledge and skill in performing MRI general procedures and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary for MRI imaging, including body mechanics and patient movement. Knowledge of safety requirements for staff, patients, and visitors. Skill in positioning patients properly. Skill in using computer network systems to process patient and department information. Skill in performing quality exams and exercising compassion with patients. Skill in IV administration of contrast materials. Skill in completing job functions in a timely manner. Knowledge of customer‑service concepts and clinic policies, including safety, privacy, and HIPAA regulation. Ability to communicate clearly in person and over the phone to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other staff. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co‑workers, and management.
