TELAMON|TRC COMMITMENT TO TRAUMAINFORMED CARE:

Telamon|TRC has taken steps to shift ourorganization into a Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) model. This changes ourperceptions about the individuals that we work with, employees and customers,including families and children. A trauma-informed system of care provides servicesthat empower employees and customers, including families and children, to feelsafe, welcomed and engaged at all levels of organizational interaction.Exchanges that could be potentially retraumatizing, or trigger traumaticreactions require thoughtfulness and non-judgement. Ongoing, as anorganization, we collaborate to educate employees about the effects ofviolence, victimization and trauma on individuals. This model supports aculture of safety for employees and customers, including families and children.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Empowerparents to establish a strong foundation for their child's school readiness,using the family's home environment to create rich learning opportunities.Provide comprehensive services that identify and meet the needs of the childrenand families.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Engage parents in their homeenvironment for 90 minutes a week, working in coordination to plan and carryout weekly activities based on the child's assessment, with a focus on schoolreadiness.


2. Educates parents on childdevelopment, nutrition, safety, mental health, and the availability ofresources in the community

3. Plans, conducts and documentsobservations, assessments and screenings. Maintains a comprehensive and ongoingportfolio assessment for each child including weekly observations, examples ofthe child's work, and developmental assessments.

4. Works in coordination with teamto plan and conduct group socialization activities for children and familiesthat support the development of peer-group relationships and expose children togroup setting. Ensure socializationenvironment meets program requirements.

5. Ensures that the physical needsof children are met, assisting children in health and personal habits, such aseating, resting, brushing teeth, and toilet habits.

6. Conducts family assessments,working in partnership parents to establish goals for child and family.Identifies available Head Start and community resources to match family needs.Provide support, make referrals and document progress on goal achievement.

7. Maintains accurate records, bothon paper and in designated on-line systems. Maintains confidentiality regarding students and families.

8. Conducts outreach to recruit newfamilies into the program.


9. Protects the safety of childrenby implementing active supervision techniques to ensure no child is left aloneor unsupervised at any time.


10. Composes and proofreadscorrespondence and reports.

11. Ensures the mobilization anddocumentation of matching/in-kind funds.

12. May transport families in companyvehicle for group activities.

13. Plans or participates incommunity events involving Head Start families to promote family engagement,interaction and education.

14. Participates in staff meetings,committees and training sessions.

15. May assist in preparing andserving meals.

16. Works in cooperation withsupervisor to develop and document progress on professional development plan.Actively engages in professional development activities to increasequalifications in accordance with Corporation's Core Values.

17. Fills in on a temporary basis intimes of staff shortage.


18. May translate.

19. Perform all other duties asassigned by the supervisor.

SAFETY DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensuringa secure workplace is a collective effort. All employees are responsible foradhering to established safe work practices and completing all mandatory safetytraining by the assigned due date.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no direct supervisory duties butis expected to train or explain work procedures to others.

• Highschool diploma (or G.E.D.) with a Home Based CDA or equivalent* is required.

Job Code 517 / Grade E7B
• AnAssociate's degree in child development or early childhood or related field*, 2years of experience working with preschool children is preferred.
• Withan Associate's degree in ECE, 2 years of experience working with preschoolchildren preferred. With an Associate'sdegree in a related field*, 2 years of experience working with preschoolchildren is required.

• AnBachelor's degree in child development or early childhood or related field*, 2years of experience working with preschool children is preferred.

Applicable to all grade levels:
• Mustbe able to get certification for CPR and First Aid after hire and recertify asrequired.
• Musthave own transportation, a valid driver's license, and vehicle insurance.
• Musthave a willingness to work towards any additional credentials needed to move tothe next level in the position, this may include continued education.
• Experiencein adult learning principles and family dynamics.

* State-awarded certificate thatmeets or exceeds the requirements for an Infant/Toddler CDA credential maybesubstituted.


** Degree in a related field isdefined as an associate, baccalaureate, or advanced degree in a field otherthan child development or early childhood education that either includes or issupplemented by twelve (12) college credits in child development, earlychildhood, or equivalent coursework focusing on children birth to age five. Atleast 3 of those credits must be in an infant toddler or preschool focusedfoundations course in child development.


Skillsand Abilities:
• MicrosoftOffice products and on-line client management systems
• Bilingualability is preferred.
• Abilityto manage caseload within given amount of time and provide optimum services.
• Abilityto remain organized within mobile environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

BackgroundChecks:
• Allemployees are subject to both a pre-hire and an annual background check.Specific rules by Area of Focus will indicate whether a state or federalfingerprint background check (or both) is required and the frequency. Afingerprint background check may suffice for a regular background check.Additional background checks may be required such as the Child Abuse andNeglect State Registry, and the Sex Offender Registry.

• Telamon|TRCemployees that are required to drive a personal vehicle for work-related dutiesare to meet the auto insurance liability requirement. The minimum limitsrequired are $100,000 each person bodily injury, $300,000 each accident bodilyinjury and $50,000 property damage. Theinsurance liability requirement covers use of an employee's personalvehicle.
