TELAMON|TRC COMMITMENT TO TRAUMAINFORMED CARE: Telamon|TRC has taken steps to shift ourorganization into a Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) model. This changes ourperceptions about the individuals that we work with, employees and customers,including families and children. A trauma-informed system of care provides servicesthat empower employees and customers, including families and children, to feelsafe, welcomed and engaged at all levels of organizational interaction.Exchanges that could be potentially retraumatizing, or trigger traumaticreactions require thoughtfulness and non-judgement. Ongoing, as anorganization, we collaborate to educate employees about the effects ofviolence, victimization and trauma on individuals. This model supports aculture of safety for employees and customers, including families and children. POSITION SUMMARY: Empowerparents to establish a strong foundation for their child's school readiness,using the family's home environment to create rich learning opportunities.Provide comprehensive services that identify and meet the needs of the childrenand families. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Engage parents in their homeenvironment for 90 minutes a week, working in coordination to plan and carryout weekly activities based on the child's assessment, with a focus on schoolreadiness.
2. Educates parents on childdevelopment, nutrition, safety, mental health, and the availability ofresources in the community 3. Plans, conducts and documentsobservations, assessments and screenings. Maintains a comprehensive and ongoingportfolio assessment for each child including weekly observations, examples ofthe child's work, and developmental assessments. 4. Works in coordination with teamto plan and conduct group socialization activities for children and familiesthat support the development of peer-group relationships and expose children togroup setting. Ensure socializationenvironment meets program requirements. 5. Ensures that the physical needsof children are met, assisting children in health and personal habits, such aseating, resting, brushing teeth, and toilet habits. 6. Conducts family assessments,working in partnership parents to establish goals for child and family.Identifies available Head Start and community resources to match family needs.Provide support, make referrals and document progress on goal achievement. 7. Maintains accurate records, bothon paper and in designated on-line systems. Maintains confidentiality regarding students and families. 8. Conducts outreach to recruit newfamilies into the program.
9. Protects the safety of childrenby implementing active supervision techniques to ensure no child is left aloneor unsupervised at any time.
10. Composes and proofreadscorrespondence and reports. 11. Ensures the mobilization anddocumentation of matching/in-kind funds. 12. May transport families in companyvehicle for group activities. 13. Plans or participates incommunity events involving Head Start families to promote family engagement,interaction and education. 14. Participates in staff meetings,committees and training sessions. 15. May assist in preparing andserving meals. 16. Works in cooperation withsupervisor to develop and document progress on professional development plan.Actively engages in professional development activities to increasequalifications in accordance with Corporation's Core Values. 17. Fills in on a temporary basis intimes of staff shortage.
18. May translate. 19. Perform all other duties asassigned by the supervisor. SAFETY DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES: Ensuringa secure workplace is a collective effort. All employees are responsible foradhering to established safe work practices and completing all mandatory safetytraining by the assigned due date. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no direct supervisory duties butis expected to train or explain work procedures to others.
