Job Description Summary MUSC Children’s Health After Hours Care Mt. Pleasant is a pediatric outpatient clinic that falls under Shawn Jenkin’s Children’s Hospital at MUSC. During the day, we host a variety of pediatric subspecialists such as pediatric pulmonary, GI, endocrinology, and more. Additionally, we provide a walk‑in After Hours Care derived from our pediatric emergency department to serve the community during hours when most pediatricians are closed. Clinic Schedule Specialty clinics operate Monday‑Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. After Hours Care operates Monday‑Friday 3 pm—10 pm, and 12 pm—7 pm on weekends and holidays. Entity & Employment Details Entity: Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) Worker Type: Employee Worker Sub‑Type: Regular Cost Center: CC000253 CHS - After Hours & Specialty Clinics - Mt Pleasant (Offsite) Pay Rate Type: Hourly Pay Grade: Health‑21 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 CMA Job Summary / Purpose Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Medical Assistant performs multi‑skilled activities to support a decentralized patient‑centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes. LPN Job Summary / Purpose Responsible for quality patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider in a clinical practice. Duties include rooming patients, taking vitals and health history, documenting in an electronic medical record, giving injections, and assisting with minor procedures. CMA Minimum Training and Education High‑school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred. Basic computer skills required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Annual competencies must be maintained. The candidate must possess a considerable knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy; ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of complex therapeutic procedures; and ability to make accurate physical observations of patients. Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. LPN Minimum Training and Education Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. One year of LPN experience preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. CMA Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations Must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Health Career Association (NHA), or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. LPN Required Licensure, Certifications, Registration Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
