Registered Nurse In Intensive Care Unit

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Neuro ICU required License: Active state license required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong Neuro Critical Care background with at least 2 years of experience Experience managing stroke patients Description: CROSS POSTING FOR JOB. RTO after booking is NOT allowed. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly turn into a cancellation. Minimum 2 years of experience required. Traveler experience is essential. The unit will NOT accept first-time travelers. Locals are accepted, with a rate difference. Required skills include vents, IV start, neuro intensive care unit experience, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, and central line care/management. Experience with continuous IV sedation, CVA/acutely managed stroke patients is needed. Candidates must be familiar with external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgery management. Care of ventilated patients and the use of isolation precautions/PPE are mandatory. Strong neuro experience is a must. Stroke patients represent a significant portion of the unit's population. Ratios are typically 2:1 but can flex up to 3:1 in high census situations. An average daily census is 11-12 patients. This position requires weekend work every other weekend. Floating may be required within/near the facility. Candidates must be open to floating as needed. All candidates must complete EKG Testing prior to start. The unit utilizes specific equipment, such as EVDs, lumbar drains, and ICP monitoring tools. Pre-start modules will be required to be completed in a timely manner. Compliance with facility policies and guidelines is required.
