Description
The Laundry Supervisor ensures that linen is clean, sanitized, and available for use by hotel Housekeepers and other departments as needed while complying with the Rolling Hills Casino Resort safety standards / security procedures. This position oversees washing, drying, ironing, folding, sorting and distribution of all hotel linen by Laundry Attendants. Provides an excellent service experience for the guests of Rolling Hills Casino hotels and ensures that the Rolling Hills Way is maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Manage overall daily performance of the Laundry Room and oversees Laundry Attendants to ensure quality controls for all linen processes, rejecting any exceptions.
- Ensure linen and laundry supplies are ordered, received, and distributed to the appropriate area
- Always ensures a clean and organized linen room and reports to the Hotel Manager if any items have been damaged (linen as well as uniforms)
- Assists in the recruitment, selection, training, development, and appraisal of the laundry team performance.
- Assists in determining staffing requirements necessary to meet the laundry department's needs as to scheduling and staffing requirements
- Ensure that the proper procedure is followed when linen or uniform needs to be stored, recorded, and discarded.
- Ensure proper loading and unloading of dryers, and setting proper temperature for different items that require drying
- Keeps linen for all different departments separate
- Check all uniforms for any loose buttons and hems and give to Uniforms for mending
- Attends and participates in in-service education classes, on-the-job training programs, etc. when available
- Schedules preventative maintenance of laundry equipment and co-ordinates with the Facilities department for any maintenance issues
- Distributes dried linens to Housekeepers to ensure daily production is met
- Assists in standardizing the method in which laundry tasks will be performed
- Responsible for proper running of equipment and proper amounts of chemicals
- Performs other duties as assigned and able to carry out any other reasonable task set by the hotel management
- Operates equipment to wash and dry linens according to manufacturer instructions ensuring that washer / dryer formulas and cycles are correct for the linen types being laundered
- Understand all safety and emergency procedures. Follows accident prevention policies and is prepared to respond to emergency situations
- Communicate frequently with housekeeping, maintenance, security, and other departments
- Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with both internal and external clients & guests
- Handle stressful situations and can make informed and efficient decisions
- Assist the Laundry Attendants on their day today duties when needed
- Available to work all shifts as required by business needs, including potential overtime.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises all Laundry personnel. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Assist with payroll and clerical duties.
Requirements:
- Minimum 21 years of age
Qualifications
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and customer service skills. Ability to deal effectively with people and to handle problems calmly and efficiently. Ability to work under team management approach and to work efficiently without direct supervision. Ability to hear well and speak clearly. Must be willing to work any shift and weekends. The ability to speak a second language a plus. Reliability required. Must provide high quality customer service and hospitality in the execution of tasks and responsibilities by ensuring a consistent, professional, courteous, friendly efficient service. Previous minor supervisory experiences within the Housekeeping Department of a hotel are ideal.
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), experience in customer service and knowledge of telephone equipment and its operation. Strong computer / keyboarding skills and aptitude desired.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to internal and external customers.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to work alone or in a team.
Certificates, License, Registrations
Gaming license issued by the Paskenta Gaming Commission
Physical Demands
Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently. Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and often exert up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull, carry, lift, or otherwise move objects. Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis. While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat). Must be able to work in heat. Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside and frequently lift 20 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
