Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Support routine database operations such as backups, restores, and space management.
- Monitor database performance and help identify slow queries, bottlenecks, and potential improvements
- Help ensure database availability, reliability, and security.
- Utilize database monitoring tools to track system health and performance.
- Assist in tuning SQL queries, indexes, and database parameters under guidance from senior DBAs.
- Backup & Recovery
- Perform and validate backup jobs.
- Participate in disaster recovery drills and support recovery efforts as needed.
- Support user account provisioning and permission management.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with internal policies and industry standards.
- Respond to database-related incidents and service requests.
- Document configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other teams to troubleshoot issues.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Basic understanding of Oracle Database architecture and SQL Server architecture.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and ability to write basic queries.
- Familiarity with database backup concepts, indexing, and stored procedures.
- Understanding of operating systems (Windows/Linux).
- Knowledge of Oracle SQL Developer, SSMS, or similar DBA tools.
- Exposure to PL/SQL or T-SQL scripting.
- Understanding of high availability solutions (Oracle RAC, Data Guard, AlwaysOn, etc.).
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) is a plus.
- Basic shell or PowerShell scripting.
