Heavy Equipment Operator (Evergreen - BHL)

Overview Brice Highway LLC is a subsidiary of Calista Brice, a group of more than 20 companies delivering construction, engineering, and environmental solutions across the United States. The Heavy Equipment Operator position is located in Houston, TX and surrounding areas, and requires proficiency in operating a range of heavy construction equipment. Responsibilities Drive, maneuver, and control heavy machinery used to construct roads, bridges, buildings, and other structures. Operate heavy equipment in a safe, efficient manner while adhering to project plans and instructions from the Foreman and Superintendent. Cut and maintain slope or grade as called out in project plans. Load and haul construction materials, earth, and other heavy materials with minimal direct supervision. Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to the supervisor. Account and report daily activity and maintain accurate work records. Identify and resolve problems promptly and communicate effectively over the phone and on the radio. Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, and coordinate machine actions with crew members using hand or audio signals. Ensure equipment is stored safely and maintain a constant state of alertness. Perform other duties as directed. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of materials, terms, and practices in the construction field. Knowledge of machines and tools, including repair and maintenance, and practical applications. Ability to read plans and understand task requirements. Experience operating all construction heavy power equipment, including graders, dozers with ripper, excavators, and rubber tire loaders. Experience in earthworks and civil/heavy civil construction. Ability to participate in group problem solving, meetings, and follow directions from supervisors. High attention to detail, adherence to work rules, and ability to follow the project schedule. Strong self‑motivation, work ethic, and ability to work with or without direct supervision. Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly under pressure. Adaptability to change, ability to identify and correct safety conditions, and work in a team environment. Flexibility to work a schedule that may include weekends and holidays. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Five (5) years’ experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Ability to pass drug, driving (if applicable), and background screenings. Preferred Qualifications Previous underground utility experience. Experience with GPS system operation on heavy equipment. Current valid state commercial driver’s license. Current medical card. Working Environment Fast‑paced, multi‑tasking environment that may require work outdoors at job sites and occasional overtime for field support or bid processing.
