Supervisor Nursing - Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)


Virtus Healthcare Staffing is searching for a dedicated and experienced Nursing Supervisor to join our partner, a leading medical center in Mission Viejo, CA. This is a critical leadership opportunity for a seasoned nurse to oversee a 20-bed Surgical Intensive Care Unit that specializes in neuro and trauma critical care management. If you are passionate about leading a team in a high-acuity environment and caring for the most complex patients, this role is for you.


Position Overview


As the Supervisor of Nursing in the SICU, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and clinical care on the unit during your shift. The SICU is a Level II Trauma Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center, providing care for complex patients with neuro/TBI/stroke/spinal cord injuries, complex surgeries, and other critical medical conditions. Your role is central to ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care while mentoring and guiding your team of nurses.



Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision, guidance, and mentorship to all nursing staff within the SICU.
• Oversee patient care delivery, ensuring that it meets the highest standards for neuro and trauma critical care.
• Manage daily operational activities, including patient flow, bed management, and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other departments to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to patient care.
• Participate in quality assurance initiatives and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
• Serve as a clinical leader and resource for your team, providing expert guidance during complex patient care situations.

Qualifications

• Education:
  
  
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required.
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Experience:
  
  
  • A minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience in a specialty area is required.
  • Charge Nurse or Relief Charge Nurse experience is required.
  • Leadership experience is preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications:
  
  
  • A California Registered Nurse License is required upon hire.
  • A National Provider BLS from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
  • One professional certification in a related area is required upon hire.
