Position Overview

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Software Engineer on our Product Development team. In this role, you will design and build the C#/.NET services that form the foundation of our cloud-first, multi-tenant SaaS platform, driving the architecture, integration, and innovation behind our high-quality, scalable solutions. You will also help lead how our team builds software with AI, shaping our use of Claude Code and spec-driven development to turn well-defined requirements into secure, production-ready systems. 

What You'll Get to Do

You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining the core back-end systems of our platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and innovative solutions, mentor team members, and contribute to technical leadership, including setting the standard for how engineers and AI work together effectively. 

Technical Contributions

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, secure, and scalable back-end services, APIs, and event-driven microservices using C#/.NET. 
• Architect, optimize, and manage SQL and NoSQL data stores (Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB) for performance, scalability, and security. 
• Build and operate cloud-first solutions on Azure using Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines. 
• Apply best practices for caching, messaging, load balancing, and data encryption to improve resilience and security. 
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Managers, front-end engineers, and DevOps to translate business requirements into technical designs and deliverables. 

AI-Assisted and Spec-Driven Development

• Use Claude Code as a core part of your daily workflow for design exploration, implementation, testing, refactoring, and troubleshooting across complex, distributed systems. 
• Lead the team's spec-driven development practice by authoring and reviewing specifications, including requirements, acceptance criteria, API contracts, and technical designs, that drive both human and AI-generated implementation. 
• Design, build, and maintain shared AI tooling, such as Claude Code skills, project context files, custom commands, and MCP integrations, that improve the productivity and consistency of the whole team. 
• Establish guardrails and review standards for AI-generated code to ensure correctness, security, performance, and maintainability. 
• Evaluate emerging AI development tools and practices and recommend how the team should adopt them. 

Leadership and Mentorship

• Mentor and guide team members, including coaching engineers on effective AI-assisted and spec-driven workflows, and promote a culture of learning and growth. 
• Influence the team's technical direction, ensuring adherence to best practices and alignment with organizational goals. 

Engineering Excellence

• Perform comprehensive code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain high coding standards and improve team performance. 
• Lead and contribute to technology initiatives, driving innovation and the adoption of modern tools and frameworks. 
• Ensure our SaaS platform's reliability, performance, and security through proactive design, automated testing, and development. 

Strategic Impact

• Play a critical role in advancing the technical capabilities of our software, contributing to both short-term objectives and long-term strategic goals. 
• Influence technical decisions that impact the success of the KorTerra product suite and the broader organization. 

Operational Ownership

• Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of production issues, including occasional after-hours escalation when necessary. 
• Participate in designing and implementing monitoring, alerting, and operational strategies to ensure system reliability.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in backend software development
• Expert-level proficiency in C# and modern .NET, including ASP.NET Core (.NET 8 or later; we're on .NET 10). 
• Proven experience designing and building microservices and RESTful APIs on Azure. 
• Expertise in database design and management (SQL and NoSQL). 
• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines. 
• Experience with event-driven messaging (Azure Service Bus), including topic- and queue-based messaging. 
• Deep understanding of API security best practices and authentication. 
• Substantial hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor) in professional development, with a clear point of view on how to use them effectively and responsibly. 
• Strong technical writing skills, including authoring specifications, design documents, or architecture decision records. 
• Strong problem-solving skills, analytical mindset, and ability to lead in a team-oriented environment. 
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process. 

Preferred

• Experience leading or introducing spec-driven development or similar specification-first practices on a team. 
• Experience authoring Claude Code skills, custom commands, subagents, or MCP server integrations. 
• Experience with MassTransit, saga patterns, and distributed system design. 
• Experience with Terraform and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). 
• Experience with observability platforms such as Datadog. 
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), SOLID principles, and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD). 
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence.
