Cardiac/Vascular/Interventional Radiology Lab RoleResponsible and expected to perform multiple roles within the cardiac/vascular/interventional radiology lab according to established standards and practices. Participate in coronary procedures, peripheral vascular procedures, interventional radiology procedures, and device implantation.Ensures procedure rooms are adequately prepared prior to the start of the procedureStocks room supplies and monitors PAR levels of suppliesAssures practices and procedures are followed in accordance with current accrediting agency guidelines and recommendations (universal protocol, patient identification, labeling solutions, clean/sterile technique)Participates in departmental staff meetings, performance improvement activities, and other department initiativesPerforms all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical errorsPrepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each procedureCarries out medical/surgical asepsis and demonstrates proper sterile technique during proceduresCross-trains to all primary functions involved with a case (scrubbing, circulating, and monitoring) for all proceduresExplains procedure to patient and gives verbal assurances as necessaryNotifies the physician or other nursing personnel when the patient complains of pain or discomfortAlways maintains an orderly and sterile instrument table for efficiency and follows department standard setupIs responsible for the care and handling of instruments, supplies, and equipment during intra/post-operative phasesKeeps catheters and guide wires flushed and cleaned throughout the entire procedure and disposes of them according to hospital policyDemonstrates the ability to pan the table as appropriateDemonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations during high-risk proceduresOperates all equipment safely and correctlyPerforms periodic equipment calibrations and quality control measures as requiredResponsible for the operation of x-ray equipment; follows radiation safety standardsWears a radiation dosage badge at all times; assures other team members wear the badge appropriatelyRecognizes basic EKG rhythmsMaintains accurate records; documents in the reporting system accurately and preciselyAdapts procedures to meet the individual needs of adult and geriatric patients for treatmentAssists in positioning, prepping, and draping of patientsUnderstands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflicts of Interest PolicyDemonstrates age-specific skills as required by the positionOffers suggestions on ways to improve the operations of the department and reduce costsAttends all mandatory education programsImproves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classesMaintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirementsWilling to cross-train to assist co-workers better and to provide maximum efficiency in the departmentManages resources effectivelyReports equipment in need of repair to extend the life of the equipmentMakes good use of time so as not to create needless overtimeAssociate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Radiology, or Related FieldRadiology TechA graduate of a school of Cardiovascular Technology or Radiology Technology is requiredRegistered Cardiac Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Radiology credential required within one year of hireMust maintain BLS and ACLS certificationNo callQualificationsTeam Player: Works well as a member of a groupDetail Oriented: Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done wellDedicated: Devoted to a task or purpose with loyalty or integrityAssociates or better in RADIOLOGIC TECHNICIAN or related field.Radiologic TechnologistEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
