Registered Nurse - Oncology

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care for patients in accordance with national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations for clinical research trials focusing within oncology. This role requires a compassionate individual with a deep understanding of physiological, psychological, and developmental differences across various age groups, including late adolescence through to the elderly. The ideal candidate will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to assess and manage patient and family needs therapeutically.

Responsibilities:

• Implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
• Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding their medical history and current status.
• Collect and record nursing assessments and interventions.
• Review and report health status assessments and physical examinations, including laboratory and radiographic data.
• Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Administer therapies under physician supervision, including learning to mix chemotherapy/immunotherapy.
• Administer medications correctly by dosage, route, time, and technique.
• Ensure pre-authorization and consent forms are completed before therapy administration.
• Facilitate dose modifications by assessing patients and consulting with physicians.
• Perform venipuncture and maintain catheter devices.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and treatments.
• Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
• Restock supplies as needed.
• Follow OSHA guidelines for handling hazardous materials.
• Maintain equipment according to quality control standards.
• Facilitate clinical operations and manage patient care.
• Handle medication refill requests and document in patient charts.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
• Maintain efficient patient flow in exam rooms.
• Triage patient phone calls and document information.
• Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team.
• Assist patients in finding community resources.
• Collaborate with clinical research and act as a resource for LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.
• Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
• Participate in professional development and stay updated on oncology nursing.

Essential Skills:

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree
• Experience in patient care and infusion
• Experience in clinical research

This position is based in an office setting with a Monday to Friday schedule, with no weekend or holiday work required. Job Type & Location:

This is a Permanent position based out of Albany, NY.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $82000.00 - $98000.00/yr.
