Interventional Radiologic Technologist

Job Overview Hartford Healthcare, a leading not-for-profit healthcare system in Connecticut, is seeking an Interventional Radiologic Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with interventional radiologists, nurses, and other care team members to provide high-quality, patient-centered imaging and procedural support in a fast-paced interventional radiology environment. You will prepare patients for a variety of minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, explain exams and obtain consent as appropriate, ensure correct patient identification and procedure verification, and maintain a compassionate and reassuring presence throughout the patient experience. Responsibilities Operate and troubleshoot complex imaging and interventional equipment, including fluoroscopy units, angiography systems, contrast injectors, ultrasound guidance devices, and associated monitoring equipment. Position patients accurately, select appropriate technical factors, and follow radiation safety principles to minimize exposure while obtaining optimal image quality. Assist the physician during procedures such as angiography, angioplasty, stent placement, embolization, vascular access, biopsies, drain placements, and other image-guided interventions by managing sterile fields, passing instruments, handling wires and catheters, and monitoring patient status. Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, infection prevention policies, and all regulatory and departmental standards. Prepare procedure rooms, stock supplies, verify equipment functionality, and respond promptly to emergent and add-on cases. Perform accurate documentation in the electronic medical record, appropriate image labeling, contrast and supply tracking, and participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities. Play a role in patient recovery and post-procedure care within the scope of practice, collaborating closely with nursing and physicians to ensure safe handoffs and clear communication. Qualifications Registered radiologic technologist with interventional or cath lab experience. Strong technical and critical-thinking skills. Passion for delivering exceptional patient care in a collaborative, inclusive environment. Detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and committed to continuous learning. Knowledge of radiation safety principles and regulatory standards.
