Learning Environments Services Specialist

This position reports to the Manager of Learning Environments and Event Support. It provides day-to-day office management of work orders for learning technology environment services and Tier I support for technologies in electronic classrooms and Union facilities, as well as audio‑visual (A/V) support for academic classes and special events. The role drives a wide range of services and support needs for the campus community and requires availability during evenings and weekends. Position Title: Learning Environments Services Specialist Pay Status and Classification: Non‑exempt, Regular Full‑time Supervisor: Manager of Learning Environments and Event Support Position Purpose The role manages work orders, maintains electronic classroom equipment, and provides A/V support for events and staff training, ensuring efficient operation of campus technology resources. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Provide Tier I support for campus‑wide sound and video projection systems, electronic classrooms, and related facilities; train faculty and staff on system use. Perform basic computer troubleshooting, reinstall operating systems, and set up computers in classrooms and labs. Manage documentation, maintenance, and regular inspection of electronic classrooms and other facilities. Coordinate A/V equipment delivery, setup, operation, and retrieval for special events and conferences. Collaborate with the Office of Special Events and Conference Services and external vendors to deliver event support. Maintain inventory and organization of all A/V, computer equipment, and peripherals, including a hardware database and asset management. Serve as a backup point of contact for Work Study students when the Learning Environments Services Coordinator is absent. Perform general office duties such as data entry, filing, report generation, and campus personnel greeting. Assist with training and execution of video/web conferences. Manage digital media, including audio and video recording, editing, dubbing, and online posting. Other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate degree in Applied Sciences, Computer Information Systems, Communications, or Audio Production Technologies (preferred). Minimum 6 months hands‑on experience with audio, video, and projection systems; 1+ year preferred. Knowledge of Windows and Apple operating systems; basic understanding of networks and printers. Proficiency with A/V equipment, including Crestron control systems. Experience and knowledge of sound, lighting, and video systems. Service‑oriented mindset and ability to handle help requests from diverse stakeholders. Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve hardware and software issues. Reliability and dependability in meeting deadlines and appointments. Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills; able to work independently or collaboratively. Safety conscious and able to work with diverse groups of individuals. Compensation The hourly rate for this position is $20.00. The final wage will be set based on department budget, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, and training.
