Assistant Facilities Manager

BOXER, Inc. is seeking a full-time Assistant Facilities Manager to support the daily operations of the Van Dyke Houses Boxing Community Center. The Center provides boxing training, mentoring, open gym access, case management, and community-based programming for Brownsville residents ages 10–30, with a focus on high-risk youth and young adults. The Assistant Facilities Manager will work closely with the Center Manager to ensure the Center operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DYCD requirements. This role will also assume responsibility for Center operations when the Center Manager is absent. Key Responsibilities Support the day-to-day operations of the Van Dyke Houses Boxing Community Center. Assist with implementation of the weekly program schedule, including boxing activities, mentoring, workshops, open gym, and case management services. Help coordinate staff coverage and support frontline staff, including coaches, case management, front desk, security, janitorial, and vendor personnel. Assist with enrollment, attendance tracking, participant files, DYCD data entry, and required reporting. Help maintain audit-ready records for DYCD site visits and compliance reviews. Support a safe, inclusive, trauma-informed, and welcoming environment for participants. Assist with conflict prevention, de-escalation, participant engagement, and referrals. Monitor facility conditions, equipment, supplies, cleanliness, and program spaces. Support outreach, retention, community events, exhibitions, workshops, and special programming. Required Qualifications Prior supervisory, management, or program operations experience. Ability to oversee Center operations and make sound decisions in the Center Manager’s absence. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience working with youth, young adults, families, or community-based programs. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including high-risk and vulnerable participants. Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, inclusive, and trauma-informed environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy community center setting. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle participant information appropriately. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Preferred Qualifications Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Public Administration, Social Work, Sports Management, or a related field. Experience working in Brownsville or a comparable underserved community. Experience in a DYCD-funded, youth development, community center, violence prevention, mentoring, athletic, or nonprofit program. Familiarity with DYCD Connect, discoverDYCD, participant tracking systems, enrollment documentation, and attendance reporting. Experience supporting staff schedules, program compliance, and facility operations. Awareness of NYSAC requirements related to boxing instruction, sparring, and competition oversight. Bilingual ability, especially English/Spanish, is a plus. Work Schedule / Conditions This is a full-time, onsite position. Remote work is not applicable. The Center is expected to operate six days per week, including daytime, evening, and weekend hours. The Assistant Facilities Manager must be available to work a flexible schedule based on program needs.
