Do you look around and think, "This isn't the Hawaiʻi I grew up in"?

More and more hotels and condominiums are being built while local families continue to move away because they can no longer afford to live here. Do you ever ask yourself, "What can I do?" but don't know where to start?

UNITE HERE Local 5 represents 10,000 workers across Hawaiʻi's hotels, healthcare facilities, and food service industry. We work for some of the richest corporations in the world, yet we must fight to get our fair share. Uniting workers together, we have won improved wages, protected healthcare benefits, and secured other life-changing gains for working families.

These victories were made possible by everyday workers—housekeepers, servers, bartenders, cooks, cashiers, and many others—along with the support of our communities.

Through our Apprenticeship Program, you'll be mentored by staff organizers and union leaders. You'll learn the fundamentals of organizing, develop leadership and communication skills, and gain hands-on experience working on real campaigns that make a difference in people's lives.
