Staff Psychologist- BHIP (Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program) Team

Overview This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval and award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities This position is the full performance level for staff psychologists. Psychologists diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological or neuropsychological assessments, and treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities. Provide comprehensive psychotherapeutic and diagnostic services for Veterans within a Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) Team. Utilize evidence-based practices, measurement-based care, and timely completion of treatment plans aligned with recovery-oriented treatment. Comply with Mental Health Service Line documentation requirements, including CPRS notes, templates, clinical reminders, and risk assessments. Collaborate within an interprofessional team to provide coordinated care for Veterans and participate in the Psychology Internship Program through didactic presentations or supervision. Engage in program evaluation, teaching, training, and potential research activities as part of the staff psychologist role. Consult with medical center staff on a wide range of patient care issues. Basic Requirements United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy. English Language Proficiency: Proficient in written and spoken English for direct patient care as per VA Handbook 5005 - Part II - Chapter 3 - Section A - Paragraph 3j. Education: Option A: Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS) or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at program completion; specialty area must be consistent with the assignment. Option B: Doctoral degree in any psychology area plus successful completion of a re-specialization program (including an APA or CPA internship) that is accredited and whose retrained specialty aligns with the assignment. Licensure: Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in the United States or D.C. Experience/Grade Determinations: GS-13 requires at least two years of professional psychology experience, including at least one year at the GS-12 level, with demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in professional psychological treatment and consultation, and familiarity with clinical research literature.
