Actuary - Medicare Part D (Seattle Health)

Overview Milliman's Seattle Health Practice is looking for an Actuary with extensive experience in Medicare Part D. The position requires creative actuarial capabilities, strong communication and interpersonal skills, organizational talents, high self‑motivation, and the ability to lead a team of analysts. Extensive on‑the‑job training in consulting skills and advanced actuarial techniques is provided. Responsibilities Lead Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage forecasting and bid development. Present results to and participate in strategic discussions with clients. Provide strategic guidance to local and regional health plans on evolving impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act and other regulatory and market forces. Perform analysis of healthcare data. Write reports that explain technical concepts clearly to a non‑technical audience. Manage projects through completion within an expected budget. Supervise actuarial students in completing technical aspects of actuarial projects. Develop client relationship management skills; while not required, generating new business may lead to greater career growth. Qualifications Professional Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field. FSA designation. 5‑10 years of healthcare actuarial experience, including at least three years with Medicare Part D (bid development), government or commercial programs, and Medicare Advantage. Demonstrable skills in presenting technical concepts to a non‑technical audience. Strong understanding of the US healthcare system. Proficiency with Excel. Some knowledge of SAS, SQL, or R. Personal Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication. Ability to work independently and in team environments. Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced environment where client satisfaction is key. Entrepreneurial spirit. Preferred Qualifications Bid Certification. Experience with R and/or Python. PowerBI. Location This position is based out of the Milliman office in Seattle, WA. Remote candidates anywhere in the US will be considered; in‑office work is preferred. This posting is expected to close on May 29, 2026. Compensation Salary ranges from $103,500 to $242,650, depending on overall experience and qualifications.
