No experience required. Experience in admissions, student recruitment, enrollment services, student affairs, sales, marketing, or a related area is preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered. Nature & Purpose of Position Responsible for translating the goals and values of the University to all categories of prospective students. Serves as an on-campus representative of Sam Houston State University responsible for recruiting and guiding prospective students from initial inquiry through enrollment. Engages in outreach, relationship building, and data-informed recruitment strategies to support University enrollment goals. Develops relationships with students, families, schools, counselors, and community partners while providing individualized support throughout the admissions and enrollment process. Primary Responsibilities Develops and implements recruitment strategies in support of University enrollment goals. Recruits prospective students through high school visits, community college visits, college fairs, campus visits, classroom presentations, community events, individual appointments, and virtual engagement opportunities. Builds and maintains relationships with school administrators, counselors, teachers, community college personnel, community-based organizations, alumni, and other recruitment partners. Provides prospective students and families with information regarding admission requirements, application procedures, academic programs, scholarships, financial aid, orientation, housing, student life, and enrollment processes. Reviews undergraduate applications and makes admission decisions in accordance with University policies and procedures. Communicates proactively with prospective and admitted students through telephone calls, email, text messaging, presentations, and CRM communication campaigns. Conducts individual and group appointments to assist students and families in understanding admission requirements and completing enrollment steps. Maintains accurate records of student interactions, recruitment activities, travel, and event outcomes within the University’s CRM and other enrollment systems. Monitors recruitment activity, application progression, enrollment funnel performance, and other key performance indicators and recommends adjustments to recruitment strategies as needed. Assists with planning and implementing recruitment and yield programs, including admitted student events, counselor programs, campus visit programs, Preview Days, View email address on click.appcast.io, and other admissions initiatives. Collaborates with academic colleges and campus departments to support recruitment, yield, and enrollment goals. Supports assigned recruitment territories, populations, programs, and strategic enrollment initiatives based on University priorities and operational needs. Provides recommendations to improve recruitment strategies, programming, student communications, and overall recruitment effectiveness. Maintains professional knowledge of University programs, scholarships, and admissions processes. Represents Sam Houston State University in a professional manner and provides responsive, student-centered service. Performs other related duties as assigned. Other Specifications Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with students, families, school personnel, community college partners, University departments, alumni, and community organizations. Must possess strong organizational and time-management skills and be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The position requires regular travel during peak recruitment periods and additional travel throughout the year. Evening and weekend work may be required. Because driving is an essential function of the position, the selected candidate must possess a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain a driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance carrier. A driving record check will be conducted as part of the hiring process. This position is based on the Huntsville campus . The incumbent may be assigned recruitment territories, populations, programs, or strategic initiatives based on University enrollment priorities and coverage needs. The ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred.
