About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required. Previous charge experience preferred. License: Active nursing license required at submission. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: - Neuro PCU experience required. - Experience with CVA, External CPAP/BiPAP, TR band, and Yale Swallowing Screen. - Ability to float across various facilities as needed. Description: This position involves working 3x12 hour shifts, days from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Rotating weekends are required. Travelers are subject to float across facilities as needed. This unit has a primary focus on caring for medical neurological patients. The staff works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care. The patient population includes individuals with conditions such as: - Stroke patients, including uncomplicated tPA patients. - Tumors with aneurysms that do not require surgical intervention. - Seizure disorders. - Transient Ischemic Attacks. - Traumatic Brain Injury. - Movement Disorders. - Neuromuscular Disease. - Headache and Epilepsy Monitoring. - Stable multiple trauma cases, including non-isolated head trauma. - Spinal surgeries and subarachnoid hemorrhage in stable, non-comatose patients. Essential skills include: - BiPAP/CPAP management. - Central line care and management. - Interpretation of dysrhythmias. - Isolation precautions and PPE. - Management of cardiac drips (no titration). - Neuro stepdown care. - Non-invasive airway management. - Telemetry monitoring. - Tracheostomy care. - TR Band and Yale Swallowing Screen proficiency. - Dysrhythmia interpretation and EKG testing.
