The Vehicle Technician assembles chassis components based on drawings and blueprints, ensuring precise alignment, tight tolerances, and consistent quality control throughout each stage of the assembly process. This role installs and secures a variety of mechanical and electrical components, including suspension systems, steering mechanisms, brakes, and wiring harnesses, while performing inspections, troubleshooting, and vehicle testing to verify proper function and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assemble chassis components according to engineering drawings and blueprints, maintaining accurate alignment and tight tolerances.

• Install and secure mechanical components such as suspension systems, steering mechanisms, and braking systems.

• Install and route electrical components, including wiring harnesses and related hardware, in accordance with schematics.

• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete assembly tasks safely and efficiently.

• Perform inspections and quality checks at each stage of the assembly process to ensure all specifications and standards are met.

• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues that arise during or after assembly and assist in resolving them.

• Conduct or support vehicle testing to verify proper operation of assembled systems and components.

• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including assembly steps, inspections, and any rework or adjustments.

• Follow established safety procedures, quality standards, and work instructions while working on the production floor.

• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support production goals and continuous improvement efforts.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in assembly, machine operation, or vehicle repair.

• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly in a production or workshop environment.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints or schematics for mechanical and electrical systems.

• Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for assembly and installation tasks.

• Ability to use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.

• Basic electrical knowledge sufficient to install and route wiring harnesses and related components.

• Troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving mechanical and electrical issues.

• Ability to perform vehicle testing and basic functional checks.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.

• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation of work performed.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with vehicle chassis or automotive components.

• Familiarity with reading and working from detailed mechanical and electrical schematics.

• Comfort working in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow standardized work instructions.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Work Environment

This is an onsite role in a clean, modern production facility with a controlled maximum climate of approximately 78 degrees, providing a comfortable and orderly work setting. You will work with mechanical and electrical components using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments on the production floor. The standard shift runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with Friday reserved for overtime as needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loudon, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
