Medical Billing SpecialistThe Medical Billing Specialist is a remote position with requirements to be located within 2 hours drive from Shepherdsville, Kentucky.The Medical Billing Specialist ensures the accuracy of medical coding, posting payments, and balancing client accounts. We are looking for a routine task oriented, quick learner who treats our patients and staff with the utmost respect and "customer love". If you are a certified coder, who enjoys working methodically and accurately, this is the job for you.Duties/Responsibilities:Daily interaction over the phone with patients/customers to answer questions or receive payments.Daily posting of insurance payments and balancing deposits.Assisting team members with billing and insurance questions.Investigating and resolving denials and appealing the denialsDaily phone interaction with insurance companies to resolve issues with payments.Coding during peak seasons.Required Skills/Abilities:Excellent verbal and written communication skills by phone or in personExcellent interpersonal and customer service skillsKnowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Workers' Compensation insurance billing guidelines.Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records.Previous experience with claims, payment posting, denials, appeals and coding.This is a "work from home" position and therefore, you must be able to work full days with no interruptions.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalentCertificate in Coding preferredAt least two years coding experience requiredPhysical Requirements:Constant periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Constant use of hands for typing.At least 50% of the day requires speaking by phone.Over the past 15 years, Mercy Urgent Care patients have returned to our clinics to seek fast, friendly, quality care.
