Senior Java Engineer - AWS

Salary: $120,000 - 170,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree and 4 years of experience in software application development and maintenance, or a high school diploma/GED and 8 years of experience in software application development and maintenance
• 3+ years of experience building and migrating enterprise-scale APIs using AWS services such as API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, IAM, and KMS
• 3+ years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, RESTful API development, microservices architecture, API security, and cloud-native application design
• Experience with Terraform, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and event-driven architectures
• Hands-on experience leading API modernization and cloud migration efforts, including breaking monolithic applications into microservices
• Experience with application performance monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, Grafana, or similar platforms

• Design, build, improve, and support secure, scalable, high-performance APIs and microservices for Payments, Money Movement, and Information Reporting platforms
• Participate in modernizing and migrating APIs and integration services from on-premises environments to AWS cloud-native architectures
• Develop cloud-native solutions using AWS services including API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, IAM, KMS, and AWS Transfer Family
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices with Java, Spring Boot, and AWS-native technologies in line with enterprise architecture and security standards
• Support existing API platforms by resolving issues, adding functionality, strengthening resiliency, and improving performance
• Develop and maintain event-driven solutions with Apache Kafka, Amazon SNS, and Amazon SQS for real-time payment and money movement processing
• Build, deploy, and support containerized applications using OpenShift, Docker, and AWS ECS
• Partner with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to convert business needs into scalable technical solutions
• Apply secure coding practices and API security controls, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and secrets management
• Improve API performance, scalability, and reliability through tuning, monitoring, and proactive issue resolution
• Take part in API migration work, including legacy assessment, refactoring, testing, deployment, and production cutover support
• Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform to automate cloud provisioning and deployment
• Implement and support CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, deployment, and release processes
• Use observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Amazon CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, Grafana, and Splunk to track application health and investigate production issues
• Participate in on-call support, incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts to maintain platform stability and operational excellence
• Contribute to code reviews, technical design discussions, and engineering best practices to enhance software quality and maintainability
