Senior Billing Specialist

Remote Senior Billing Specialist – Pathology Laboratory Responsible for overseeing complex billing and collections activities for pathology services, resolving outstanding claims, and supporting accurate and timely reimbursement. Key Responsibilities Review and submit claims for anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and molecular testing services. Verify insurance coverage, patient demographics, and billing information. Review coding and modifiers for accuracy and coordinate corrections with appropriate staff. Resolve claim denials, rejections, underpayments, and insurance appeals. Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid claims. Post and reconcile payments, contractual adjustments, and patient balances. Communicate with insurance companies, referring offices, and patients to resolve billing issues. Identify recurring billing problems and recommend workflow improvements. Train billing staff and assist with complex accounts and escalations. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow laboratory billing policies. Qualifications At least 3–5 years of medical billing experience, preferably in a pathology laboratory. Strong knowledge of insurance claims, reimbursement, denials, and accounts receivable. Familiarity with pathology CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, and applicable modifiers. Experience with laboratory billing software, payer portals, and Excel.
