Department: Ground Operations Pay of $36.00 to $37.50 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Opportunities for overtime and shift premiums. U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. required; no future work‑authorization sponsorship available. Shift Schedule Assigned shifts based on seniority. Shifts can include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Want to lead a Team that keeps planes moving safely and on time? Ramp Supervisors at Southwest Airlines manage Ramp Agents and ensure aircraft arrive and depart on schedule. They guide the Team, check that safety rules are followed, and keep equipment ready for use. Supervisors also handle scheduling, training, and daily reports. They work with other Airport Operations Teams to solve problems and share updates. This role is great for someone who enjoys leading people and helping Southwest deliver safe, efficient, and on‑time service every day. Model the Southwest Way Guide and lead team members using Southwest talent‑management practices to coach, develop, and engage employees. Responsibilities Actively coordinate with all Departments to maintain the station’s on‑time performance, employee morale, and customer satisfaction. Monitor and guide ground support performance to ensure requirements are met. Ensure all equipment including GSE is maintained and available for operation. Oversee day‑to‑day airport operations to maintain a safe, secure, and legally compliant service‑conscious environment. Meet or exceed performance goals through effective decision making, monitor and assign gate control for flights, assign and track Agents for training compliance. Maintain a safe working environment and implement programs to reduce accidents and injuries. Coordinate with all Departments to maintain station on‑time performance; report status updates to leaders and employees consistently. Drive performance processes by forecasting operational situations that may impact the operation, monitoring and achieving results against key metrics, and holding responsible parties accountable. Review and ensure accurate delay coding. Work with staff planning to build bids that align with the department’s hourly goals. Perform administrative duties daily: build shift bids, close bids, assign daily work, handle payroll and attendance reports, monitor staffing and ensure overtime is used properly. Assure proper administration of labor contracts or agreements, emphasizing minimal labor disputes. Perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of business and management principles, strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements and their application. Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including relative costs and benefits. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating customer satisfaction. Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology. Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Skilled in understanding implications of new information for current and future problem‑solving and decision‑making. Ability to listen, understand, and communicate ideas in writing and speaking. Ability to recognize and address performance and safety concerns promptly. Education N/A Experience Fully functioning, broad knowledge of Airline Operations. Licensing / Certification Must obtain a SIDA (Secured Identification Display Area) badge and meet all local airport requirements. Must possess a current valid driver’s license issued in the United States. Must obtain GSC qualification and comply with the DOT drug and alcohol testing program. May be required to obtain a Customs Seal and meet all requirements to work on international flights. Physical Abilities Perform work duties from a limited‑space workstation/desk/office area for extended periods. Communicate and interact in English to meet job demands. Perform duties with potential exposure to excessive noise, vibrations, and/or sensory conditions. Perform duties in outdoor and inclement weather conditions. Use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy. Lift and move items of 70 pounds and/or more regularly, and repetitively lift 40‑50 pounds on raised surfaces. Climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop frequently and for extended periods. Other Qualifications Maintain a well‑groomed appearance per company standards.
