Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in emergency nursing as well as prior experience in medical-surgical settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the emergency room.
• Perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain patient safety and quality care standards in a fast-paced environment.
• Document nursing interventions and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record.

Shift Information

This position requires a rotating schedule of day and night shifts, typically covering 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. one week, followed by 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the next week. The schedule may consider block scheduling with every other weekend off.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Room setting.
• Prior experience in Medical-Surgical nursing is required.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, TNCC. PALS certification is preferred.
• Ability to read telemetry strips and manage patient monitoring.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a team environment.

Unit Information

• Trauma Level: IV
• STEMI Receiving and Stroke Center designation.
• 4 beds and 2 trauma bays in the emergency room.
• No Fast Track system or separate Triage area available.
• Separate Psych/seclusion rooms are available.
• Nurse aides and EMTs are on call.
• Emergency lab staff perform tests and draw labs.

Orientation and Training

New hires will undergo a comprehensive orientation program, including a mixture of day and night shifts for a total of 12 hours of unit-specific training.

Dress Code

The dress code for this position includes navy blue scrubs.

Additional Requirements

• Floating between the Emergency Room and Medical-Surgical unit may be required.
• A radius rule of 50 miles applies regarding prior employment with associated facilities.
• Request for Time Off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; additional requests will not be accommodated after submission.
