Water/Wastewater Project Engineer

We are seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to support the planning, design, delivery and commissioning of infrastructure projects across water and wastewater networks and treatment facilities. This role will suit an engineer who can combine strong technical knowledge with practical project delivery skills and is comfortable working across multiple projects and stakeholders. You will contribute to projects from initial feasibility and concept development through detailed design, construction support and completion.


Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings and schedules; developing design solutions for water, wastewater, pumping, pipeline, storage and treatment assets; coordinating inputs from multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, suppliers and regulators; and supporting project programmes, budgets, risk registers and quality processes. You will attend site visits, inspections and progress meetings, provide technical advice during construction, review contractor submissions, and help resolve design or delivery issues. The role will also involve ensuring that work complies with applicable legislation, industry standards, health and safety requirements, environmental obligations and client specifications.


Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, process or a related engineering discipline, together with relevant experience in water or wastewater infrastructure projects. Experience with design software, hydraulic modelling, technical documentation and construction or commissioning support is desirable. A professional engineering registration, or active progress towards professional accreditation, would be advantageous. You will need strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and explain technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. A collaborative approach, attention to detail and a commitment to delivering safe, sustainable and cost-effective solutions are essential. The position may require occasional travel to project sites and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
