Position Overview MCI is seeking a dedicated and experienced College & Career Counselor to join our Academic Office team beginning September 2026. The ideal candidate brings excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a genuine passion for guiding young people toward their futures, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, student-centered environment. This role calls for a proactive self-starter who can manage a caseload of students with both compassion and efficiency, collaborate with faculty, and champion the academic and post‑secondary success of every student they serve. All faculty members are also expected to contribute meaningfully to the co-curricular life of the school. Key Responsibilities College & Career Counseling Guide approximately 50 seniors through the college application process, military pathways, and workforce planning, including writing individualized recommendation letters. Support underclassmen with thoughtful course selection, academic schedule building, and long‑term post‑secondary planning. Publicize scholarship opportunities, coordinate student applications, and prepare all materials for internal and external selection processes. Student Support & Collaboration Participate in 504, IEP, and parent‑teacher meetings to address academic needs and post‑secondary planning. Collaborate with the Student Wellness Center to support students through their social, emotional, and physical wellness needs. Coordinate and host parent and student events on topics such as financial aid, college transition, 8th‑grade orientation, and technical center partnerships. Testing & Assessment Coordination Coordinate on‑site testing programs including NWEA, AP, PSAT, SAT, STAR, and various placement assessments. Community & Professional Engagement Travel regularly to college campuses and actively participate in professional counseling organizations. Attend department and faculty meetings; engage in school‑wide professional development. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) required; Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience working with a multicultural student body of diverse interests, needs, and abilities. High proficiency with educational technology, including PowerSchool and social media platforms for student outreach. Familiarity with SchooLinks college & career planning software preferred. Exemplary collaboration, communication, and organizational skills—with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong desire to contribute to an independent residential school community.
