Keep current with new knowledge and innovative ideas and techniques in the sport. Responsible for promoting designated sport throughout the School District and community in a positive and responsible manner. OSAA and District Eligibility requirements met. Reports To: Building Principal Essential Job Functions: Provide a positive learning environment and act as a positive role model for the athletes. Teach the skills necessary for successful performance in the sport. Manage athlete behavior during training sessions, meets and events. Supervise assistant coaches. Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and School Board Policies. Attend all meets and events scheduled for the sport, including coaches’ meetings. Organize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis with the aim of developing athletes’ greatest potential. Apply discipline in a firm and positive manner. Requirements: Experience with high school students and the sport/activity. Verification of identity and prior employment. Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance from the State Department of Education. Online district required trainings through the Safe Schools Program. Current First Aid and CPR/AED card. OSAA Concussion certification. OSAA Steroid & OSAA Heat Prevention certification. ASEP/NFHS Coaching certification. Compliance Requirements (Open to all coaches, paid and volunteer) Coaching application and new hire paperwork (I-9, W-4) – One time upon being hired. Fingerprinting – One time upon being hired ($12.50). Background check based on completed fingerprints – One time upon being hired ($75). ASEP/NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching – One time upon being hired ($50). Concussion Recognition and Management – Annual ($0). NFHS Heat Acclimatization and Heat Illness Prevention – Every other year ($0). Anabolic Steroids and Performance‑Enhancing Substance – Every 4 years ($0). First Aid/CPR/AED – Every 2 years ($35).
