Summary: This position develops strategies to improve engagement and manage activities under our Pathways to Healthcare program designed to engage the early workforce population, including but not limited to recruitment, learning and development, shadowing, career exploration, diversity and other activities aimed at developing our future workplace environment through partnerships with local high schools, JMG programs, tech programs, and other youth-focused career development programs. In addition, this position supports all functions of the Volunteer Services office and the Director of Community Engagement. The Early Workforce Development and Volunteer Manager helps recruit, supervise and provide direction, coordination, and consultation for all functions of all volunteer programing at the medical center. Oversees and manages day to day operations of the Community Engagement Office and Serves as the liaison between Volunteer leads and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees operation of Pathways of Healthcare program, which requires close coordination with all staff.
- Work directly with Director of Community Engagement, Human Resources, Medical Education, Clinical Education and Talent and Recruitment on establishing a strategic plan for the program's growth in alignment with organizational goals to attract and retain valuable and diverse employees.
- Help coordinate and support non-clinical internship and job shadow experiences to create meaningful experiences.
- Develop, execute and evaluate internal communication plan for Pathways to Healthcare program to ensure the vision, values, initiatives and organizational information are communicated consistently and effectively.
- Help develop and implement the company's diversity initiatives and strategies to attract, hire, and maintain a diverse workplace through targeted campaigns towards the youth population.
- Lead the development and execution of early workforce engagement programs and foster the company's culture ensuring all initiatives/activities are promoted and delivered.
- Organize special events, including but not limited to career exploration days, youth career fairs, program outreach, etc.
- Assess programs and events, feedback, and involvement in considering creative ideas and needs.
- Guide, train, and engage staff in early workforce programming and ensure appropriate legal and organizational compliance is followed.
- Track participation and engagement efforts for reporting.
Other Information:
- Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary. Must be able to hear and verbally communicate with volunteers, patients, family members, physicians, healthcare professionals, etc.
- Belief in the concept of volunteerism and knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and techniques used in the recruitment, interviewing, screening, selection and placement of volunteers.
- Knowledge of Volgistics, web based volunteer data management software preferred • Database management, desktop publishing and internet/website experience and proficiency.
- Experience as a volunteer, preferably in a leadership role and with youth.
- Experience in a supervisory capacity, volunteers or employees.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles of office management and office procedures, systems and equipment.
- Word processing experience and proficiency.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with volunteers, coworkers, managers, other hospital personnel at all levels of the organization, board members and the general public.
- Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures, and ability to deal with problems in a courteous, tactful manner.
- Ability to deal with stressful situations and diverse nature of work.
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in accordance with goals and objectives of the department, and to gather, analyze and present facts in a logical, coherent manner, both orally and in writing.
