Certified Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant (MA) is the "engine" of the clinical pod. You are the person who ensures that for every 15‑to‑30‑minute appointment, the provider has exactly what they need and the patient feels prepared and heard. Your role is a unique hybrid of clinical skill and administrative efficiency. Clinical Support & Rooming Own the Rooming Workflow; speed and accuracy dictate clinic schedule. Patient Intake: Greeting patients, verifying identity, and documenting the "Reason for Visit" in the EHR. Vital Signs: Capturing accurate blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, and pulse oximetry. Medication Review: Reviewing the current medication list and allergies with the patient to ensure the provider has a clean record. Screenings: Performing routine screenings such as PHQ‑9 (depression) or GAD‑7 (anxiety) as indicated by the visit type. Hands‑On Procedures Under the supervision of a provider, perform subcutaneous and intramuscular injections (e.g., Flu shots, TB tests, or B12). CLIA‑Waived Testing: Perform rapid tests such as Strep, Pregnancy (hCG), and Glucose. Lab Prep: Draw blood (phlebotomy), process urine samples, and ensure all specimens are labeled correctly before they leave the room. Clinic Tasks: Perform EKGs, ear irrigations, and assist with basic splinting or casting. Administrative Responsibilities In‑Basket Management: Sort provider messages, lab results, and patient requests. Prior Authorizations: Coordinate with insurance companies to ensure medications or referrals are covered. Room Maintenance: Clean and stock exam rooms between patients to meet infection control standards. Equipment Sterilization: Manage the autoclave and ensure surgical instruments are processed according to protocol. Qualifications & Skills Certification: Completion of an accredited MA program and current State Certification (MA‑C). BLS: Current Basic Life Support certification. Tech Savvy: Ability to type quickly and navigate complex EHR software (e.g., Epic or Cerner). Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence; ability to calm anxious patients. #J-18808-Ljbffr
