Summary Joining the Secret Service, Office of Protective Operations, George W Bush Protective Division will allow you to perform logistical, analytical, and administrative assignments and projects required to support the agency on foreign domestic details. Responsibilities The selectee will serve as an Operations Specialist (Logistics) in the Office of Protective Operations, George W. Bush Protective Division. Typical work assignments include: Leads and conducts logistical, analytical, and administrative assignments and projects in support of foreign and domestic details and provides advice and assistance to management on logistics and operations. The incumbent collaborates with internal and external stakeholders regarding protective visits and maintains liaison to ensure proper staffing for each protectee detail based on threat level. The incumbent is responsible for creating and approving trip requests in the protective assignment systems, including providing information regarding reporting instructions, personnel notifications, hotel accommodations, and scheduled hours for staff for each protective visit. Conducts data quality audits and analysis of the protective service trip databases, including but not limited to personnel hours, staff assignments, and statistics and history management of the number of trips (e.g., foreign, domestic, and in-town) for protectees to support logistics planning, budget allocation, and workforce planning, and to assist in ensuring accuracy and consistency with agency policy. The incumbent regularly evaluates programs for efficiency, identifies areas for improvement, and recommends corrective actions to increase service delivery. Collaborate with leadership to resolve logistical challenges, implement interagency agreements, and ensure adherence to federal regulations and USSS policies. As required, the incumbent represents the organization in meetings, briefings, and working groups, providing subject-matter expertise on logistics operations, operational efficiencies, and resource management. This Operations Specialist (Logistics) position starts at a salary of $81,186, GS-11, step 1 with potential to $105,547, GS-11 step 10. Qualifications To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying. You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $81,186.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level performing duties such as: Providing advice and assistance to management on logistics and operational security. Managing and coordinating assignments in support of protective operations and related security functions for protective events. Collaborating and maintaining liaison with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure timely receipt and dissemination of protective information establishing and approving trips in personnel and logistical databases to include providing trip notifications, reporting instructions, and scheduled hours to all needed elements. OR A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, LL.M. OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position if the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current competitive service employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50, "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). You may need to submit more than one SF-50 to comply. The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
