Shift: 1st Shift

8am - 4:30pm

Description: Winder - Filament Winding Machines
• JOB PURPOSE: This position offers on-the-job training to become a Winder. Once trained you will support the winding operations for Waco Precision Winding and ensure efficiency, quality and safety in production. Demonstrate a commitment to the company by presenting the company to employees in the Winding Area and other areas, in a positive light. Being supportive of Winding Dept. employees as well as all plant employees. Always focusing on continual improvement in the Winding position and support the daily manufacturing goals.

JOB DUTIES: will include but not limited to:
• Perform winding of billets/booms when necessary.
• Work with the efforts of all workers in the winding area and assist them in trying new methods, with an open mind regarding methods and outcome, working with a team approach. Learn to wind the parts per the order of parts to be made per the wind sheets. Give feedback to Management when conflicts or issues to the daily schedule are discovered.
• Ensure and verify proper wind patterns are matched to the correct tooling BEFORE starting the wind. Ensure part dimensions are within established tolerances.
• Ensure you are working with the winding department so that it works synergistically with the efforts of the Stripping/Saw area and Shipping Dept. with a goal of winding parts per the wind sheets and customer needs. Ensure that parts are not hanging still (not rotating) horizontally for extended periods of time to eliminate any chance of bowing of the parts.
• Cooperate and support changing schedules that serve to improve efficiency of the plant (Winding employees start the day when mandrels are available to wind). Work within the specified number of hours per week as requested by Management.
• Work with Engineering to improve part quality and follow the directive to make the best parts in the filament winding industry. Inform Engineering or the Management when part winds are less than excellent. Ensure consistency of similar parts.
• Monitor quality regularly and ensure quality is built into each and every part made.
• Communicate regularly and constructively with Management and Leads.
• Check all paperwork passing through the area for correctness and completeness.
• Monitor winding equipment to ensure it is running optimally and interface with maintenance, Engineering or Management in order to keep equipment operating and maintained.
• Have an attitude of continual improvement, innovation and 'can do' within the department.
• Ensure the winder is kept clean and is cleaned on a daily basis as it is the core of our operations and our "bread and butter".
• Communicate need for supplies or raw materials if you see we are low or about to run out.
• Protect and maintain tooling from damage - Ensure tooling is properly waxed and cleaned as needed and that tooling is properly engaged in winder and oven when loading.
• Learn all aspects of mixing resin and ensure you do it correctly each and every time.
• Ensure correct cure cycle is selected and executed for the parts in the oven.
• Be willing to shift to other areas to learn new skills to support manufacturing goals.
