Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - CVICU

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) to join our team. This is a contract position with a shift from 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM. The position requires a commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Highlights

• Unit: CVICU
• Shift Details: Rotating shifts from 7 AM to 7:30 PM and 7 PM to 7:30 AM
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Floating Policy: All travelers are required to float; please discuss this during the interview process.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients in the CVICU setting.
• Monitor hemodynamic status and manage ventilators.
• Perform post-operative care, including CABG and VAD patients.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to assess and implement patient care plans.
• Document patient information using the Meditech system.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required.
• Current and active RN license in Texas (temporary licenses are not accepted).
• ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification is mandatory.
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, including Swan-Ganz catheters and arterial lines.
• Knowledge of ventilator management is essential.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP) and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).
• Familiarity with Meditech charting and order entry systems is preferred.

Dress Code and Professional Appearance

• Scrub color for RNs: Navy scrub top and pants, navy or white scrub jacket.
• Nail policy: Clean and healthy nails.
• Hair: Neat and clean, with no extreme styles or colors.
• Body art should be covered whenever possible; visible tattoos may be addressed individually.
• Visible piercings other than in the ears are prohibited.

Policies and Guidelines

• Attendance policies require punctuality; late clock-ins may be considered tardy.
• Badging in and out for shifts is required, along with a full 30-minute lunch break.
