Per Diem Radiology Technologist - South Shore Health Urgent Care (multiple locations available)

Position: Radiology Technologist (Part‑time, Varied Shifts) located at Health Express‑Weymouth, Weymouth, MA. Responsible for patient care, image production, equipment operations, safety, and radiation protection. Responsibilities Patient Care Confirm patient identity and evaluate ability to comply with examination requirements. Explain and confirm patient preparation (diet, medications). Verify radiographic requisition for accuracy and completeness. Sequence imaging procedures, manage contrast, and ensure patient safety and comfort. Communicate scheduling delays and obtain necessary patient consent. Provide post‑procedural instructions and maintain confidentiality. Use standard precautions, isolation protocols, and proper body mechanics. Administer contrast agents with dosage determination, sterile technique, and monitor for adverse reactions. Image Production and Quality Assurance Ensure correct positioning and exposure factors; use calipers and technique charts. Process exposed images, reload cassettes, and prepare digital receptors. Verify patient identification on radiographs and evaluate diagnostic quality. Take corrective measures for non‑diagnostic studies and store film safely. Equipment Operation & Maintenance Prepare and operate radiographic, fluoroscopy, and digital imaging units. Perform basic equipment evaluations, visual inspections, and report malfunctions. Maintain radiation protection devices and personnel monitoring. Ensure clean, disinfected, or sterilized facilities and properly dispose of contaminated materials. Radiation Protection Evaluate and apply protective shielding; minimize exposure for patient and staff. Restrict beam, set exposure parameters, and monitor occupational exposure reports. Adhere to safety protocols for female patients of child‑bearing age and pregnancy screening. Safety & Culture of Safety Verify patient identity, procedure site, and MD orders before invasive procedures. Follow CDC hand‑hygiene, PPE use, respiratory etiquette, universal precautions, and electrical safety guidelines. Commit to a culture of safety with personal ownership and appropriate protective equipment. Qualifications & Requirements Graduate of an approved 2‑year radiography technology program. Minimum 6 months experience to achieve full proficiency. Licensed or temporarily licensed RT in Massachusetts (MA state license). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association). Independent BLS instruction may also be required. Radiography Technology – Radiation Control Program (Massachusetts) and Temporary license required. Demonstrate CEU activity; maintain continuous CEU for two years beyond last license renewal.
