Maui Humane Society is an open-admissions animal shelter for cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles, and other animals. We provide veterinary and routine care and help surrendered animals find a new home. We also provide humane law enforcement services, education and outreach, programs to retain pets in their families, and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries. Our team is resilient, compassionate to animals, creative problem-solvers, and dedicated to do what it takes to get the job done. We're excited to welcome you as our next Pet Resources Specialist. In this role you will be the primary point of contact for all walk-ins, support all shelter inquiries, and provide a range of services to the community. You will need to exhibit strong customer service skills without judgement and will be leading difficult conversations with highly emotional people daily. What you'll be doing (with a team and training):Providing a positive community experience in all transactionsProcessing data and payments in our shelter software Intaking animals being surrendered - including for euthanasiaDocument animal behavior and transporting animals throughout the shelterHigh volume surgery scheduling and intakePreparing animals for cremationTo be successful in this role you'll need to have (minimum qualifications):Strong customer service communication skills - externally and internallyHigh comfort in interacting with animals Ability to use multiple computer programs efficientlyWe'd love it if you already had (desired qualifications):Experience in animal welfare Experience with shelter software (PetPoint preferred)Animal handling experience especially in a professional setting (boarding, grooming, vet)Medical office experienceSocial services experienceWhat you can expect from us:Regular supportive feedbackCareer growthTraining in animal welfareA comprehensive compensation package including:Medical benefits at no cost to you Dental & Vision benefits at low costFSA401K with matchStudent loan forgiveness eligibilityPerformance pay raisesMaui Humane Society does perform a background check on all applicants receiving an offer.
