Job Summary and Qualifications

To maintain an efficient, safe and pleasant work environment. To assist the Director, Medical Director and Physicist in directing all aspects of care provided by the Medical Imaging Department, including but not limited to; procedures, treatments, quality improvement, quality control and other related duties. Furthermore, the Technologist produces two dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs for use by Physician in diagnosis of disease and study of malfunction of organs by performing the following duties.

What You Will Do In This Role:

• Keys test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results.
• Assists physician with Ultrasound guided biopsies or invasive procedures.
• Assures the department meets the criteria for various accrediting agencies, these include TDH, TJC
• Expectations Ethics and Compliance: All employees will be held accountable for behaviors displayed relative to the values articulated in the Mission and Values Statement. All employees will be held accountable for attending training regarding the Code of Conduct program at least annually.
• Explains process to patient, and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination.
• Moves transducer, by hand, over specified area of body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.
• Must pass competency exam annually.
• Photographs images of organs shown on display module, or removes strip printout from equipment, to obtain permanent record of internal examination.
• May be required, on occasion, to travel to/from different sites for patient care.
• Selects equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination.
• Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to organ to be examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test.
• Starts equipment which produces images of internal organs and records diagnostic data on magnetic tape, computer disk, strip printout, or film.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (RDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or (RDMS-AB) RDMS Abdomen Specialty, or (RDMS-OB/GYN) RDMS Obstetrics & Gynecology, or Associate Degree, or Certificate
