Collins Aerospace is looking to add an experienced, and energetic Mechanical Engineering professional to be a part of the development, modification, integration, and test of flight and ground vehicle training simulators. Devices range in complexity from simple desktop trainers to high-fidelity, full-flight training systems. Work includes both clean-sheet and design reuse. From a mechanical perspective, devices consist of custom packaged electro-mechanical assemblies, build-to-print bracketry, weldments, and sheet metal enclosures and special mechanical structures. The functionality and fidelity of the finished simulated vehicle provide customer trainees with all the experience necessary to be able to operate or service their real-world counterparts safely, efficiently, and with confidence. What You Will Do: Established and productive professional contributor working under limited supervision of technical leadership to Design, analyze, test, integrate, qualify and document mechanical hardware of moderate complexity. Master internal processes and tools for the development of training simulator hardware. Work closely with other engineering disciplines (i.e. electrical, software and systems engineering) to ensure the mechanical design is appropriate for the project/product design approach. May participate in cross-functional team efforts in integration and test of completed designs and sub-systems. Create design documentation using SolidWorks and Microsoft Office Suite. Create baseline change notifications based on technical lead direction. Use best judgement to stay aligned with lead engineering direction while completing independent assignments within scope, schedule and budget. Provide support for customer or internal reviews and meetings. Support remote teams collaborating on common projects. May travel to collaborate with remote teams up to ~15%. Qualifications You Must Have: The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field. Experience with SolidWorks Computer Aided Design tool or similar. Qualifications We Prefer: Active DoD security clearance. Experienced with utilizing MS Office Applications Word and Excel. Experience utilizing mechanical test equipment. Experience with troubleshooting technical problems. The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
