Overview What this job involves: As a Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Manager at JLL, you will lead the development of HSSE programs, ensure regulatory compliance across multiple sites and jurisdictions, and advise client leadership on practical safety solutions that protect people, property, and the environment. You will lead incident investigations, conduct risk assessments, and drive continuous improvement to reduce hazards and promote a culture of safety excellence. You will train teams, present to executives, and partner with facilities managers to embed HSSE best practices into daily operations. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health, safety, security, and environmental management systems that meet or exceed regulatory requirements. Conduct healthcare facility site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across client portfolios to identify hazards, evaluate controls, and recommend corrective actions. Lead incident and accident investigations using root cause analysis methodologies and implement preventive measures. Design and deliver HSSE training programs for employees at all levels. Monitor regulatory changes and industry best practices, updating policies and advising clients on compliance strategies and emerging risks. Collaborate with facilities management teams, vendors, and contractors to maintain HSSE standards during operations, capital projects, and events. Prepare detailed reports, metrics, and dashboards tracking HSSE performance and present findings to client stakeholders. Serve as the primary point of contact during emergencies, coordinating response efforts and communications. Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, recognition, and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in health, safety, security, and environmental management, preferably in healthcare facilities, facilities management, or corporate environments. Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, and applicable HSSE legislation. Understanding of Joint Commission survey process and healthcare accreditation standards. Proven track record of developing and implementing HSSE programs that reduce incidents and improve safety performance. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience conducting investigations, risk assessments, and audits. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences. Proficiency with HSSE management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analytics tools for tracking metrics and reporting. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or related discipline. Professional certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent. Experience managing HSSE programs across multiple countries and regulatory frameworks. Background in commercial real estate or facilities management with knowledge of building operations and tenant relations. Training in incident investigation methodologies (e.g., TapRooT, Cause Mapping or similar). Familiarity with sustainability frameworks (LEED, WELL, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and HSSE integration with corporate responsibility. Experience implementing behavioral safety programs and driving cultural transformation. Compensation and Location This position offers an estimated compensation range of 107,000.00 – 120,000.00 USD per year. Location: On-site in Chicago, IL.
