Project Engineer

Responsibilities Participate and apply DPR’s Environmental Health and Safety Plan, performing weekly safety audits. Understand and enforce contracts between DPR and subcontractors and the owner. Assist the superintendent and project manager in implementing DPR policies and executing the project. Organize duties of engineers, field office coordinator, project accountant, and other assigned staff, providing direction, prioritization, and performance feedback. Participate in trainings and company meetings to facilitate growth. Organize and electronically archive project files for easy access. Prepare, monitor, and update project schedules and reduce schedule constraints. Prepare, maintain, and implement document control entities such as daily reports, material procurement logs, submittal logs, as‑built documentation, testing and inspection logs, RFI logs, and change order logs. Distribute new drawings, changes, approved submittals, RFI responses, and other project information to all affected parties. Identify, assemble, negotiate, and distribute change orders to both the owner and subcontractors. Prepare agendas, documents, meeting minutes, and actions for owner/architect/contractor meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, safety meetings, and staff meetings. Participate in project cost control, maintain internal records, and work with subcontractors to ensure changes are paid. Prepare owner billing by assembling DPR costs, reviewing subcontractor invoices, and organizing documents per owner requirements. Monitor testing and inspection records and reports, safety inspection and accident logs, and recording building permit inspections and sign‑offs. Qualifications Organized work approach with ability to adapt and adjust as required. Detailed knowledge of project scopes with hands‑on involvement. Desire to seek and resolve construction problems or conflicts arising during design and construction. Goal‑oriented approach to coordinate and resolve project issues promptly with designers, engineers, and owners. Excellent listening and strong communication skills. Ability to identify and resolve complex issues. Effective participation in team environment. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (CMiC, Prolog or similar), scheduling software (Primavera or similar) and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or similar). 2+ years of experience as a project engineer, preferably within DPR’s core markets. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering or related field. A strong work ethic, a "can‑do" attitude and a passion for construction. This position is salaried.
