Refuse Truck Driver

Safety Sensitive Position

This is a safety sensitive position regulated by the Department of Transportation due to the Commercial Driver's License requirement. The role involves becoming qualified and operating as part of a crew and/or driving multiple solid-waste collection trucks, dump trucks, or any other equipment associated with the department. The job also includes performing preventive maintenance on assigned equipment. A public service-oriented personality is a must. Starting pay is $23.6327/hr. Provided benefits include health insurance, group life insurance, a wellness program, and CERS retirement through Kentucky Retirement Systems. Paid time off includes vacation, sick time, and holidays (for eligible employees).

Examples of Duties

Primary essential functions include but are not limited to:

• Driving large vehicles/equipment, including refuse packer trucks or trucks equipped with hydraulic lifting devices;
• Transporting refuse collectors, leaf rakers, on designated routes;
• Operating automated trash cart lifting devices on trucks;
• Unloading refuse trucks;
• Performing preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.

Typical Qualifications

Required at time of application:

• High School diploma or GED;
• Valid Driver's License;
• Valid CDL, Class B or higher.

Experience as a CDL driver is preferred but not required.
