Performs all functions related to product processing (preparation), merchandising, stocking, display, and counter service as required. All Whole Foods Market Retail jobs require ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. All positions must be performed in accordance with team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Further, Team Members must be prepared and able to perform the duties inherent in other Team Member job descriptions. Job Responsibilities\n \n Prepares products for display and sale; depending on department, may include:\n Cutting fruits and vegetables,\n Measuring, mixing, and preparing raw materials according to defined specifications and recipes,\n Forming food items into defined shapes and sizes,\n Labelling, dating, covering, and rotating prepared product,\n Baking, cooking, or otherwise preparing product.\n Ensuring product meets WFM guidelines for quality and preparation.\n Ensures that merchandising areas, walk-ins, freezers, and food preparation areas are clean and sanitary.\n Cleans department continuously and maintains sweep logs.\n Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings.\n Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques; answers phones and pages promptly and courteously.\n Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.\n Follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.\n Maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards.\n Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensures accuracy of signs and pricing.\n Immediately reports safety hazards and violations.\n Performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.\n \n Job Skills\n \n Knowledge of assigned team’s product, including preparation, display, storage, and stocking standards.\n Understands spoilage and supply waste and how it affects department profits.\n Demonstrates a passion for cleanliness.\n Working knowledge and application of all merchandising expectations within the department.\n Basic computer skills.\n Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.\n Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors.\n Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and Team Members.\n Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills.\n Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market.\n Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.\n Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.\n \n Experience\n \n No prior retail experience required.\n \n \n Physical Requirements / Working Conditions \n \n Must be able to lift 50 pounds.\n In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.\n Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.\n Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.\n Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.\n Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.\n Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.\n Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.\n Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.\n May require use of ladders.\n \n \n Note: The purpose of this document is to provide a general summary of essential responsibilities for the position and is not meant as an exhaustive list.
