Job Description General Description: NOVA Workforce seeks an experienced instructor to deliver classroom training that prepares students to pass the Society for Human Resource Management (CP and/or SCP) certification exams. This is a non-credit course requiring 36 instructional hours for adult learners, taught evenings and/or Saturdays. Teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. Adjunct faculty are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses to students from diverse backgrounds, in formats including face-to-face, remote, and online. The adjunct contract contains no guarantee of continued employment. Must reside in the (DC, VA, MD) DMV area. Duties and Tasks: Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress. Adhere to NOVA and VCCS policies, procedures and regulations. Maintain current competence in SHRM and/or closely related certifications. Provide quality instruction with established materials, meeting assigned classes as scheduled. Submit required records and reports routinely and adhere to professional ethics per NOVA and VCCS policies. Qualifications KSA’s / Required Qualifications Deep knowledge of SHRM preparation, including the CP and SCP designations, and current applications in the workplace. Knowledge of Canvas/Blackboard or related LMS usage for instruction (assignments, quizzes, discussion boards, gradebook, modules). Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environment. Excellent organizational and classroom management skills. Ability to work with groups of varying ages and skill levels, including differentiating instruction. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work individually and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills. Two (2) years of teaching experience in SHRM preparation. Experience training adult learners. Experience using learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.). Additional Considerations Credentialed in SHRM - SCP, CHRL, or SPHR. Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats. Experience working with and teaching people from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.
