Temporary Animal Welfare Specialist (Methuen Adoption Center)

Job Description This is a temporary 40 hour a week position, with required weekend days. The Position We have an exciting opportunity at our Methuen Animal Care and Adoption Center for an Temporary Animal Welfare Specialist. Animal Welfare Specialists (AWS) are at the forefront of the MSPCA' smission, working directly with people and their pets to effect positive change in our community. Working hands-on with several species of animals, including companion, equine and farm animals, feeding, cleaning and disinfecting animal living spaces, providing enrichment activities, exercising, medication administration, etc. Facilitating adoptions by matchmaking animals with prospective adopters using a conversation-based approach with a goal of identifying the best possible outcome for the person and the animal. Assisting in the surrender of an animal in an empathetic and compassionate manner that is free from judgment. Applicant Requirements We are looking for applicants with at least one year of experience in a customer service/client care position. Previous work or volunteer experience with animals is a plus! Applicants should also demonstrate excellent judgment and interpersonal skills and be eager to work to support the human-animal bond. Who We Are The MSPCA is the largest animal welfare organization in New England- caring for and placing over 11,000 animals annually across our four adoption centers.
