Location: Cermak Health Services (Dept of Corrections), 2800 S California Ave, Chicago, IL 60608 Department: Patient Care Services Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM Salary: $27.192 - $32.911 hourly Job Summary Union: SEIU 73 The Staffing Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and evaluating the individual staffing needs of each clinical area. The Staffing Coordinator supports established staffing and scheduling patterns to ensure optimum staffing within budgeted levels, promoting quality and consistency of healthcare staffing resources. Must relate in a professional, courteous manner and have good verbal and written communication skills. Typical Duties Collaborate to develop staff schedules ensuring optimum staffing in all clinical areas per union contractual agreements. Develop and maintain the clinical assignment schedule to ensure daily staffing patterns for all units. Monitor staffing needs and project future staffing levels, ensuring staff availability where needed. Identify modifications necessary to reflect established staffing patterns, census, patient needs, and changing healthcare needs. Determine priority of work as assigned and complete assignment by intended target date. Coordinate vacations and time‑off requests to ensure optimal staffing levels. Maintain a current listing of employee contact numbers. Provide periodic analytic reports to administration staff to maintain cost effectiveness and control. Maintain a quality float pool staff for utilization in all clinical areas. Notify the assigned supervisor of short staffing situations, contact replacement personnel, and modify schedule when required. Maintain records of employees who miss shifts; provide monthly reports. Provide monthly reports of hours and division/unit for commercial agency, in‑house and overtime. Act as liaison between Commercial Registry and Cermak for staffing purposes. Reconcile agency invoices with actual time worked. Write memos and communicate on behalf of the supervisor when appropriate. Attend mandatory in‑services. Support Cermak and Department of Corrections philosophy, goals and objectives. Possess proficient computer skills. Maintain confidential nature of work. Perform other duties within realm of competency as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate of Arts degree AND prior staff scheduling experience OR a minimum of two (2) years of staff scheduling experience. Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word. Experience developing and maintaining spreadsheets. Typing speed at least 25 wpm. Preferred Qualifications Associate Arts Degree. One (1) to two (2) years of experience in health facilities staffing or equivalent. Proficiency in other computer applications. Excellent customer service and telephone skills. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently. Ability to multi‑task. Ability to learn quickly. Well organized and detail oriented. Professional and courteous manner. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Good communication skills and knowledge of healthcare policies, procedures, and protocols. Initiative and follow proper lines of authority. Listening, planning, and problem‑solving to accomplish functions as appropriate. Proficiency in the English language; excellent interpersonal skills.
